Erin and Jeff – Gould Hill Orchard New Hampshire Wedding Photography

When I first starting conversing with Erin’s mother, Karen, in the planning phase of her wedding, I sensed very early on what a wonderful couple Erin and Jeff were and the wonderful families they were a part of.

On Saturday August 24, 2013, the stage was set for Erin and Jeff’s wedding story to unfold just northwest of Concord, NH at the family’s beautiful home and a nearby hilltop orchard. Erin and Jeff are both educators and the events of their wedding would precede the start of a busy school year in Pennsylvania where they each teach elementary and secondary students.

The wedding day was orchestrated by Amy Piper of Signature Events of Wolfeboro, NH whose mastery of wedding planning set a rhythm and style that would pervade each setting throughout the day.

I was joined once again by Mandy who lent her talent and personality as second shooter, covering the guys before the wedding and adding a second unique perspective to the story of the day.

The day started with the breathtaking panorama of the orchard at Gould Hill Farm in Contoocook, NH. The wedding ceremony set atop the rolling hills of central New Hampshire with Mount Kearsage rising against a majestic summer blue sky. Wow.

Erin’s parents, Karen and Michael Timm, opened up their beautiful home and spacious property in Hopkinton, NH where the reception would be later held.

Cocktail tables decorated with wrapped linens stood throughout the multi-level stepped landscape allowing guests a comfortable and relaxing environment to spread out and socialize.

Inside the tent, places were elegantly set, blending contemporary flare with the rustic flavor of wicker chargers and burlap table covers.

The Timm’s property was perhaps the best setting I could ever imagine for a reception at a private residence. Spacious, beautifully kept, and welcoming, the yard, gardens, and patio received guests after the wedding. Amy and her team arranged and organized all of the activities and services throughout the wedding day.

Erin and Jeff chose a laid back and relaxing setting with cozy adirondack chairs and yard games for guests to use at their leisure.

Thoughtfulness and intricate detail filled the tent setting.

Maple syrup favors held the place cards for each guest.

After arriving at the Timm’s residence, I met Erin who was excited and radiant as the energy of the day began to build. I began by photographing her shoes and her beautiful wedding dress. The Timm’s home provided ample photographic opportunities for me to use in creating these detail shots.

I loved using the furniture in the three season porch since it perfectly matched Erin’s color theme.

As I walked through Karen and Michael’s home, I couldn’t help but reflect on the power and meaning of what I do. Before this day is out, a whole new volume of family history will be penned in the photos and memories we make today. A new legacy will begin for generations to cherish.

Beautiful natural light poured through the windows in the master bedroom. It was a perfect place for Erin to dress and prepare for the day’s excitement.

Erin’s mother, Karen, and her sister and matron of honor, Jill, attend as the final fittings are made to her dress.

I brought Erin and her bridesmaids out to the porch to relax for a bit while we awaited the trolley to bring us to the orchard for the first look.

Jeff had sent Erin and card before the wedding.

Meanwhile, Mandy met the guys at the Centennial Inn in Concord, NH where she began photographing Jeff getting ready.

We’re off! One of the trolleys arrived to carry the wedding party to the orchard for the first look. Jeff and Erin would see each other for the first time on their wedding day.

Jeff awaits with eager anticipation in the orchard before the ceremony. Erin’s father, Michael, escorted her to the orchard where I directed her to Jeff waiting in the orchard. I asked Mandy to position herself to shoot through the row of apple trees beside Jeff for an intimate perspective.

Jeff awaits his bride. This part of the story seems to tell itself.

While nestled in the coziness and charm of Gould Hill’s fabulous orchard, one can easily forget that we are atop the crest of one of the best views in the Granite State. I zoomed out to show Mount Kearsage rising above the horizon over the orchard.

Earth and sky seem to meet here.

If you are seriously considering having your wedding in a beautiful orchard like Gould Hill in late summer or early fall, please afford yourself an easy decision. Do it! 🙂

I usually recommend that all of my couples consider a first look before the ceremony. This is the reason. There is just so much time to relax and create photos in an unhurried atmosphere without a strict time constraint. We can plan as much time as we would like.

We returned to the Timm’s home to relax a bit more and await the ceremony. I took the opportunity to photograph Erin with her family members in the soft light of the house’s spacious living area.

With a nice nap under his belt, Erin’s two-year-old nephew was ready for his duties as ring bearer: ready enough to take in a leisurely flick before the festivities began.

Back at the orchard, wicker baskets and fans welcomed guests as a picture-perfect summer day continued to unfold.

This was a very creative (and refreshing) touch. Chilled pink lemonade was served to guests as they arrived at the ceremony site at Gould Hill.

Back at the Timm residence, the music of a string quintet creates a festive atmosphere as guests spread around the grounds and enjoy cocktails.

The brisk blue sky rose over the rear garden where I set up formal family portraits.

Erin and Jeff are joined by Erin’s family: Sister, Jill and her family, mother Karen, father Michael, and brother, Don.

Jeff’s family joins him and Erin for a portrait: Andrew and his family, mother Bobbie, father Scott, and brother, Will.

With all guests now assembled in the tent, Erin and Jeff are introduced for the first time as husband and wife, followed by their first dance.

As night falls, the evening is only beginning. With warm lights glowing and cool air setting in, the First Class Band with lead singer, Concetta, kicks up the heat.

Erin and Jeff: this page can scarcely contain all the wonders and emotion of your wedding day. It was my distinct honor to be let into this momentous occasion in your lives, shared with your closest family and friends, and tell the story of your wedding in images. Your life together has only just begun. Enjoy!
